WORSHIP LIFE

pic First Christian Church of Atlanta is blessed every Sunday to celebrate life and praise God in joyful worship. That joy may be expressed in reverent hushed tones or the stirring sounds of organ pipes; in laughter and hugs shared over coffee in our Expresso service, or in a gentle smile beamed during the “Peace of Christ” during our traditional worship service. Every Sunday we gratefully receive the musical offerings of a talented and dedicated staff of singers and instrumentalists, both contemporary and traditional. And as a congregation we join in lifting our songs of praise as our hearts are filled with God’s grace and mercy.

Knowing that what stirs one person to reverence before God may be different from what touches the soul of another; we offer two distinctively different styles of worship every Sunday.

At 9:00 am we begin the day with a coffee-house style worship service called Christian Expresso. Lasting just 45 minutes, this is held in a casual setting with worshippers seated at round tables and enjoying their Sunday breakfast. We sing together, pray together, hear a brief inspirational message, and share in the Lord’s Supper. Dress is very casual and relaxed; the people are friendly and welcoming. Children are always welcome.

At our 11:00 worship service we honor God through a more formalized setting while remaining a friendly and welcoming church. Classic, familiar hymns are sung; an outstanding chancel choir as well as soloists and featured groups enhance the day’s message with fine selections of church music; and the sermon is delivered by robed pastors from the pulpit. Children are welcome in this service as well, and are invited forward for a special children’s message.

Central to our worship life, regardless of style, is the celebration of communion, also called the Lord’s Supper. We believe the Lord’s Table is open to all who seek to follow Jesus Christ, and welcome all to participate in communion with us, regardless of denominational affiliation or membership.
