Very rarely is one in the presence of history, and of a figure in that history. We are truly blessed to have as one of our members the Rev. Jim Sosebee, who was one of the signers of the Atlanta Manifesto. A discussion of the historical significance of this document can be found here. Jim took the bold step, while as our pastor in 1957, of ignoring what was popular or safe and doing what was right.
Not many of the original signers are still with us, so it's even more important to recognize those who are. On 17 February 2008, we were honored to celebrate the anniversary of this event with Jim and his family.
