Atlanta First Christian Church has a long tradition of worship in a formal sanctuary, featuring the customary aspects of a "traditional" worship service:

• a formal liturgy
• hymns and "sacred music" from a Christian hymnal
• a Pastoral Prayer and reading of the Caring Concerns list
• anthems and special music from a sanctuary choir
• scripture readings
• sermon from the Pastor
• weekly observance of Communion (feast of the Eucharist), administered by elders and served by deacons

Many people are quite comfortable seeking a relationship with Christ in this way -- particularly those who were raised in the Christian faith.

However, we are finding that many people are not comfortable in this type of service. Perhaps they weren't raised in the Church. Perhaps they were, but fell away from the church for a variety of reasons. And some people find the formal sanctuary to be a little intimidating.

Expresso is intended for a different audience than the traditional service, and forms a portion of our total ministry in this place:

• the traditional service for those preferring a formal worship
• FundaySchool, our ministry for children
• Christian Expresso, a more relaxed, informal service with a praise theme
